This is one of my favorite quotes of all time. I feel like many people could relate to it. There are so many things people want to be done differently in this world. There are so many things people see and want them to change. Well be that change. Make a difference. Stop a bully, help a child, do something you want to be seen being done. Instead of saying, someone should do this, or that, well you can do it just as well as someone else. I think it really has to do with people being hypocrites. So many people look down on bullying, and some of those people saying bullying is bad.. well they are the bullies. Many people are hypocrites and they don't mean to be. Like the parents who say they will never be like their mom/dad, but end up doing the same things they did. Usually a family in poverty have an ongoing cycle. Once they are in poverty, its almost impossible to get out of, not because they can't, but because its hard for them to be different then their parents or their friends. Its those people like Ray Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens, who came from nothing. His mom had him at 15 and lived in poverty. Now he is known around the world for his powerful and inspiration speaking, and being one of the best line backers of all time. He is just one example of being the change, or being something different. Be the better person, the one to pick someone up instead of push them down. Be the person people want to change for! Thats what this quote means. Be the change!

I think that's a really good quote. It kind of blows my mind thinking that one person can have such an impact on the world but they really can. Yes, Ray Lewis is truly inspirational. How do people do that? There's just no excuse.
ReplyDeleteThis quote makes me think about Ray Lewis' mom. Was she a bad person or somehow not reflective of this positive quote because she didn't have much money and had a baby as a young girl? I wonder about the social conditions that create situations where many people do not have much access to money, housing, food, etc, while a very small minority of people have TONS of all those. I guess I don't think it is necessarily just the people "in poverty" who need to change, but also the people who on the other extreme end who are equally responsible in my eyes.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great quote. You describe it very well. I agree with you quote if you really want to change something in the world then you have to go out and change it yourself.
ReplyDeleteI love this blog post!!!! I also agree that people should get out and change the world! It only takes one time do say something to a person to change their lives. I think that Ray Lewis is a huge inspiration to get out and change the world. I have been on 3 mission trips so I am very big in making a difference in this world! Great Post :)
