Mrs.Zimmer

In class Lacy asked us to think about our writing experiences. our assignment was to think of our writing history and make a time line of the things that impacted us the most. I started to think of my writing history and realized I have really been writing all my life! I remember when I couldn't type on a computer, and look at me now! :) Middle school is when I actually became a decent writer. As I was making the timeline I thought of soo many memories of not just writing but life. Thinking about my 7th grade english class made me realize how much I loved my teacher! I took the practice test at the beggining of the year and got a 1 out of four. By the end of the year I got a 3 almost a 4! She helped me become such a better writer. I have never had such a good relationship with a teacher until her. I wouldn't just go to her about writing, I would go to her for advice, or just to talk. I hope I can get in contact with her and have lunch one day. I don't think she knows how much she has helped me become a better writer.
I love reading this, Autumn! I wonder if you could email a link to this post to your middle school teacher?
ReplyDeleteI am also really drawn to the ways you express your writing history in terms of social relationships.
I think it's really cool that you had a teacher impact your writing skills that much. I can also relate to becoming a good writer in middle school because that's when I started to see improvement as well.
ReplyDeleteI also made a huge connection with my english teacher in middle school. I came from a small school and had the same teacher three years in a row, 6th grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade. My teacher also was a huge influence on me and helped me a lot with writing and with advice. I live two minutes from her and she is a family friend so I still see her a lot and she still to this day helps me with my writing skills.
ReplyDeleteYour timeline looks awsome. I remember when I couldnt type on a computer. It is crazy how much better we are at writing now then we were in elementary school. I had a realy good high school english teacher but once I finish that year I never went talked to her agane. I might go say hey one day and show her my blog.
ReplyDeleteI had one of those relationships with my 9th grade english teacher! I don't know why I just found myself confiding in her, even though I knew nothing about her. Getting in touch with your English teacher later on down the road would be awesome, especially so she can see how far/well you've progressed.
